That is the exact line I say whenever I try to convince myself that I am not a geek. But, I have to be honest with myself - I really am a geek. I wear geeky clothes, I read geeky books (my favourite ones would be biographies, complicated literature like Haruki Murakami's, or fantasy teenage reads), I listen to geeky music, and I watch geeky movies like The Vampire Diaries and Once Upon A Time (what's geekier than a 21 year old watching shows about vampires and fairy tale stories? Nada).
So I get geekier than usual when I am excited about something that I love - mostly books, movies and music. One perfect example of my heightened level of geekiness would be when The Hunger Games first came out. I extremely loved the books - I'd bring it to class, to the toilet, to dates. When the movie came out, I made sure I went to the premiere of the movie (and I made sure I matched my outfit to Katniss' which was a moss green tunic) and when I finally downloaded the Songs from District 12 and Beyond, I knew I was unstoppable. I couldn't stop talking or tweeting about it, and I even thought of taking up archery because Katniss was such a good archer (and Agent Barton too in The Avengers Assemble, but Katniss was the prime cause).
I can feel it coming again this time - only this time round I'm obsessed with The Host. The movie will be released in late March this year which is really around the corner, and I just need to read the book before the movie premiere. I was never a fan of Stephenie Meyer's books, but after I saw the trailer of The Host, I just knew I need to read it.
Have you seen the trailer? It's madness. The clips featured were great, and they even featured an Imagine Dragons song in it (you already know that the movie's semi-great when there's an Imagine Dragons song featured in the trailer - I mean, look at the Perks). And besides, wouldn't you be excited to see Saoirse Ronan and Max Irons and Jake Abel altogether in a movie? I saw the movie trailer when it first came out, and I could feel myself getting obsessive. Everything seems so great and supreme and pretty awesome that I just hate the excitement building up in myself. I've always been a sucker for great movie trailers, and waiting for the days to inch to March 29th can be such a pain.
Max Irons. Saoirse Ronan. Jake Abel. An actual National Bestseller Stephenie Meyer novel turned movie. An Imagine Dragons song for a soundtrack. Seriously, The Host better not disappoint me.
I hope you could guess who's my favourite character by now.
